FAQ:

Q: Do you have any children’s items?

A: We have a pack n play and our storage collection includes a handful of items to make your stay with us easier. We have a highchair, a small selection of baby and kids toys, and more. Our kitchen has kid-friendly dishes, bibs and sippy cups and our bathroom has a tub.

Q: Do I need a car in Fort Wayne?

A: A car is ideal and most convenient! However, it is definitely possible to have a residency experience at Kinhouse without a car. The home is a 12-15 minute drive from the Fort Wayne Airport and Lyft/Uber options are available. You will be within 5-15 minute walking distance of several coffee shops and restaurants. Grocery stores are a bit further away and may require a ride or delivery.

Q: Can I do a studio visit during my residency?

A: Kaylan Buteyn, Dana Caldera, and other local artists may be available during your residency week to do a studio visit with you. If you are interested in setting one up during your stay simply email us! kinhouseresidency@gmail.com

Q: I noticed you have a gallery! Does my residency include access to that or support from your exhibition space?

A: We do! You can visit Kinhouse Gallery at 1117 Broadway St in Fort Wayne from 12-5pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays or at our “First Friday” events the first Friday of every month from 5-8pm. While it is connected to our residency by name and affiliation, the gallery and exhibition space has its own programming and all residency artists are not guaranteed an exhibition or opportunity to have their work shown by KHG. Please see our OPEN CALLS page for current opportunities.

Q: Your website mostly has images of women and non-binary artists, do you allow artists of all gender identities to attend?

A: Our former residency in Tennessee only supported women and non-binary artists. We have since opened our residency programming up to support artists of all genders and identities. We just ask that you are a kind person :)

Q: Can the cost of the residency be split?

A: Yes! There are 3 bedrooms and artists are free to come together and split the cost of the residency.

Q: Why isn't your residency free?

A: Some residencies are free and even pay artists to come- which is amazing! These residencies are very competitive and often want to see that you've completed a residency in the past before granting you theirs. That's where spaces like ours come in! We do not have a hierarchy based on emerging or established artists, and we want you to design a residency that works for you. Whether that means you bring your whole family, come alone, or bring friends along to support you. Free residencies also will generally expect something in return, like an exhibition or programming. We have no requirements of you and you are free to use the time as you wish.

Q: Is Kinhouse Residency wheelchair accessible?

A: Unfortunately our home is not wheelchair accessible at this time.
