Call for Art: Fiber Friends
Call for Art
Kinhouse Gallery is seeking work for their fiber-based open call, Fiber Friends.
Historically, fiber art has been a medium that brings folks together. From quilting bees to weaving groups, fiber work has the power to bring people together and create circles of connection and care. Juried by internationally acclaimed fiber artist Cassie Arnold, we invite submissions that reflect a range of work related to and including fiber based mediums and materials. Submissions may range from traditional loom weavings to collaged or mixed media works. Submissions should include a fiber based material or technique; innovative, unexpected, and exploratory submissions within the fiber category are encouraged. This exhibition will create a soft circle of fiber related works for viewers to experience, connecting artists and viewers in community.
All artists who submit to this call will be invited to a Fiber Friends Zoom hosted by Kinhouse co-directors Kaylan Buteyn and Dana Caldera as well as our juror Cassie Arnold. During the zoom we will discuss our favorite contemporary fiber based artworks as well as facilitate discussion and connection! Bringing along a fiber based artwork to stitch, knit, sew, or work on during the zoom call is encouraged! ;)
